THE HELLACOPTERS Frontman To Pay Tribute To MC5 At London Gig

March 11, 2003

Former ENTOMBED drummer and current THE HELLACOPTERS frontman Nicke Andersson will be one of the special guests at a concert celebrating the music of MC5, set to take place on Thursday, March 13 at the 100 Club in London. Says MC5 mainman Wayne Kramer: "My idea is to celebrate the music of the 5, and to pick up — musically — in today's world, where we left off over 30 years ago.

"Joining me on the band will be Dennis Thompson and Michael Davis on drums and bass, as well as the horn section Dr. Charles Moore and Buzzy Jones, both of whom helped us create the wonderful sounds you hear on 'High Time'.

"Also invited are Nicke Royale [a.k.a. Nicke Andersson] from THE HELLACOPTERS, and a short list of others who I believe represent, the principles shared by the MC5 (high energy, musical experimentation, progressive political ideas and big fun).

I'm doing this by special invitation to those musicians I think have a connection to the spirit of the 5."
